Sea Fence

I am posting two kind of fences. The first one was taken at the swimming pool. These swimming pools are located in Timoga, Lanao Del Norte. The water is so cold it comes from the Lake.

You see many "Bungsod" here in my hometown. I do not know what it is called in English but I will call it sea fence. The purpose of this is to capture the fish. They put nets all around and when low tide came the fish have a hard time getting out or the fish may be confuse where to get out. So the fishermen will have a a good time harvesting the fish just right there at the sea fence/bungsod!

The rustic wooden fence looks out of place in the pool setting but I do like it. Curious about the design on the bottom of the pool. :)

Very clever! A large and chunky fence by the pool and the beautiful, delicate lines of the sea fence! I like it.

We call that the Kelong! There's several commercial kelongs around the water here to provide seafood to the public.

I've wondered what the bungsod were for!

love the photo but am not sure about the purpose, don't you think it cheating in the man against beast competition to use traps? anyway great photos.

Sea Fence, very interesting! Thanks for sharing something new to me. The only "sea fence" us mid-westerners see is strung across a cattle dam.

Thanks for stopping in at my blog, I appreciate it, Kim.

Well where fishing is a living there has to be techniques. That what God made them for. Some great photography here. I also learned something new.

Thanks for that explanation - I have wondered about those poles in the water on other pictures.

your POV in both shots, especially the top one, is perfection :)

The sea fence looks so delicate how on earth does it stand up to the sea movement and tides? It's a lovely photo though.

A sea fence - I bet you are the only one who features one of those - well done. I really like the look of it, too!

A sea fence for fish: I've see pics of this before but didn't know what they were called. And I like that wooden fence by the pool, too.

What a great fence around the pool! Ours are so ordinary while this is really quite pretty.

The sea fence is such creative and logical way for locals to net fish.

Great shots.

The wooden fence is such a contrast around the pool but makes for an interesting picture and I do love your picture of the sea fence. I've never seen one before and that water in both your pictures look so refreshing. I want to take a dip.

Does the design of the "pool fence" have any special significance? Is it customary to use rough wood fencing in some urban areas? Your second photo is very peaceful--all blue notes.

I can't see the first photo because I am having trouble with my computer, but I just love the second!
