Barn Charm

My barn looks very dilapidated for this week. But when I cropped the photo I noticed that on the other side of the barn it has many chopped woods. It looks like it is piled outside but I think there is something inside of this barn too even if it looks like it's ready to fall down.

Beautiful! It does look like at least a tractor inside, but it doesn't look like it will provide shelter for too many more years.

It's always sad to see a barn that appears to have a limited time for it to remain standing. I like the quality of the wood in this one. It has lots of character.

I also see a fuel tank near the wood pile. Amazingly these barns stand longer than seems possible.

Sometimes, I think owners of such barns are hoping against hope that it doesn't collapse on whatever is being stored in it. Grea shot!

Hi Kim,

Your "Barn Charm" series, as well as the rest of your website, is awesome! Beautiful photos and a really nice site, which I am just now beginning to explore.

I grew up in Ohio and both sets of my grandparents had barns, so my siblings and I really grew up around them and played inside of them... my brother once broke his finger when a rat trap up in the hay mow snapped it after we climbed up the ladder. If only these barns could talk about the many years they have seen and weathered - bad storms, lightning, harsh winters, hot summers many times hotter and sometimes almost as humid as the Philippines, births and deaths of livestock and the farmers' family members. Sadly, they are an endangered species and are disappearing mainly through fires and simple neglect and dilapidation. I like barns so much that I wanted to have a piece of barn history, and ultimately I bought a table for our kitchen made out of wood from a barn that was built in 1907 and became dilapidated... I hope to write a post on my blog about that soon.

My wife, like you, is a Pinay in your age range (she's 41 and I'm 43). Please stop by my blog any time!

Best regards!

Let me rephrase my quote about "many times hotter... than the Philippines"... I meant to say "sometimes hotter" rather than implying a multiple like "3 X hotter" LOL !
